John Correia Jr.

John Correia Jr. was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Correia of 22 Rodney Street, New Bedford. He was married and the father of two daughters, aged sixteen and fourteen, and two sons, aged eleven and three. Before he became active in scallop dragging in 1944, he was employed in local fillet houses as a cutter and skinner. He was active in the Moose.

The dragger Four Sisters was returning to New Bedford with a hold full of scallops when she was lost in a sudden storm on April 7 or 8 east of Nantucket. All ten men on board were lost, and an extensive Coast Guard search failed to find any trace of the ship or the crew. Twelve children were left fatherless.

The William Landry was lost in the same storm.
